Adobe's Photoshop
I've been using Photoshop for about 20 years now. It's great. If only it were free.
I've steered away from Photoshop in recent years in favor of Linux-based software. The main reason is that most Linux applications are free and I'm tired of worrying my Windows machine is going to crash along with the last license I have for Adobe Photoshop 5.5.
GIMP
On my Linux workstation I use GIMP for raw images.
I would say it's not nearly as intuitive as Photoshop but it is powerful. Okay, actually it is terrible at some things and definately not intuitive.
Photopea.com
If you have been spoiled on Photoshop for years and years GIMP will leave you frustrated. I suggest you check out Photopea.com. It is very close to photoshop without having to install it to you local machine. For Linux users like me it's a life saver.
Inkscape
Inkscape is a great open source vector graphics editor, similar to Adobe Illustrator.
Again, definately worth learning because, well, free!
